Educational Therapist (ET)
According to the social model of disability, people with impairment were seen as socially disabled. People with impairment were labeled as a 'disabled minority' in society. The social model tells us that society's attitude towards people with disabilities has created limitations for them lives. As a result, people with disability have lived with an unequal social status in the community. In other words, the lives of people with disability are not restricted by their impairment but by the attitude of society. Hence, it is not the medical model that disables the lives of people with impairment, but the social model that creates barriers to limit their participation.
Every child is unique in their own way. The responsibility of an educational therapist is to go down to the child's level to understand and meet every child's needs and discover their talent. An educational therapist is not about correcting a child's mistakes but understanding every decision and action they make. The responsibility of an educational therapist is to apply the right teaching strategies flexibly while also discovering more ways to encounter other educational problems from time to time. There's no one-size-fits-all teaching method; educational therapists play the role to apply different teaching methods according to the various learning disabilities.
